Coaching Boys Into Men in example of one of Futures innovative programs, where middle school and high school coaches teach young mail athletes healthy relationship skills and that violence never equals strength.
National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) provides state-by-state information about domestic and sexual violence coalitions, action networks and laws (Espanol). They address the complex causes and far-reaching consequences of domestic violence through cross-sector collaborations at the state, national, and international levels with an ultimate goal of changing the way our society addresses and works to prevent domestic violence.
What the Giants are doing?
Strike Out Violence Day - Working closely with our community partners for over 20 years, the Giants continue to host an annual Strike Out the Violence day at the ballpark with a goal to bringing awareness and raise resources for organizations supporting survivors and ending violence. Additionally through the Junior Giants we have developed a Strike Out Violence speaker program and Strike Out Bullying Program.
Leading As Giants: As a development partner with Futures Without Violence, we have created a discussion based curriculum for minor league players to process what it means to truly respect someone and provide non-violent strategies to work through relationship issues. Our 2021 pilot program, consisted of 12 Giants staff led discussions with two minor league teams during the season.
